INTRODUCTION

A  simple answer: your business needs a social media presence.

One can run a small business, medium or a large company, anything, shall need a social media platform. Social media is an important element of your business's marketing strategy. The social platform helps you connect with your customers, increase brand awareness, and increase lead and sales. Every month, more than 3 billion people around the world use social media to continue to increase users and participation in major platforms. It is a fast, inexpensive, and effective way to reach almost half the world’s population.

As of January 2018, there are 4.02 billion internet users around the globe — that’s 53% of the world’s total population. Active social media users make up 3.2 billion, or 42% of the population [Data collected from Forbes]. These numbers alone prove that social media will stay and will be considered as the new marketing platform.

The five most valuable social media platforms:

Facebook (89 per cent)

LinkedIn (83 per cent)

YouTube (81 per cent)

Twitter (80 per cent)

Instagram (56 per cent)

ADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA

  1. Increase Website Traffic -  Social media posts and ads are key ways to drive traffic to your business website. Sharing attractive content from your blog or website to your social channels is a great way to get readers as soon as you publish a new post.

My personal favourite one to drive traffic is Pinterest. You can do it for free too! Just post and good content will drive traffic automatically to your website.

Include your website address in all of your social media profiles so that people who want to learn more about you can do so with one easy click. Participating in the comment section or chat groups can also be a great way to enhance your visibility, get attention from a new set of viewers, showcase your expertise, and drive traffic to your website.

  1. Generate leads -  Social media boosts your visibility among potential customers, letting you reach a wide audience by using a structured amount of time and effort. And it’s free to create a business profile on all the major social networks, so you have nothing to lose.

Lead generation is such an important benefit of social media for businesses that many social networks offer advertising formats specifically designed to collect leads like Facebook.

  1. Boosts Sales -  As the number of people using social media continues to grow and social sales tools evolve, social networks will become increasingly important for product search and e-commerce.

In a survey of more than 600 senior marketers, 39% said they saw a medium return on investment (ROI) from organic social media posts, while 20% said they received the highest ROI from this form of marketing channel. In addition, 36% said paid social media ads brought in medium ROI, while 17% said the channel provided high ROI. [statista.com], Social media has a big impact on brand awareness or brand loyalty that equates to sales. If you haven’t given much thought to your social media marketing strategy, now is the best time.

  1. Customer relationship - Social media allows you to connect with fans and followers every time they log in. Keep your social posts entertaining and informative, and your followers will be glad to see your new content in their feeds, keeping you top of mind so you’re their first stop when they’re ready to make a purchase. Using social media ads you reach out to targeted prospects, increase your conversions and ultimately get a higher return on investment. Social networks allow you to interact directly with customers and your fan followings, and likewise give them the chance to interact directly with your brand. Unlike traditional media, which offers only one-way communication, social media is a two-way one.

  1. Targeted Advertising - Traditional advertising doesn’t give you the luxury to reach out to your target audience the way social media ads do. Social ads are an inexpensive way to promote your business and distribute content. They also offer powerful targeting options so you can reach the right audience and make the most of your budget. With ad targeting options including language, demographic information, geography and even online behaviours, you can craft specific messages that best speak to different groups of potential customers, and only pay for the exact viewers you want to reach.

HOW TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA

Find Potential Customers: Before focusing on a particular social platform, make sure your target outlook is on that platform.

You can do this by searching for conversations related to your product or industry.  For example, B2B companies can find their audience on LinkedIn instead of Facebook.

Don't just guess or obey other brands.

Use Visual Materials: Knowing where your target audience is, it's your turn to be interested in using visual materials that are eye-catching to your content.  Images and videos play a major role in increasing brand awareness on social media channels.  Not only will it increase participation, but it will also increase social sharing.

Conversation Creation: Social media is about building conversations. Participate in conversations with other people, specify tags, reply, and show off your personality.

Measure your efforts: Do not aim in the dark. Use the tracing tools provided by the platform (for example, Facebook Page Insights).  URL shortcuts, along with other external tools such as Google Analytics To measure your social media activity.  Use the insights you gain to understand how you are functioning and use social media to optimize your activities to help you build a stronger brand.

Build Agencies: If you need a higher engagement rate and better brand awareness.  Then we work on building authority by sharing true values. In addition to borrowed content, the content you publish also needs to be traditional for reliability.

Using paid promotion

Paid promotion is the most cost-effective way of marketing! Marketing costs add up, and not every business can afford huge campaigns. But you can get a lot of value for your money with social media advertising. Your business, regardless of size or budget, has an opportunity to grow your audience and reach your objectives through ads on social platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Even if platforms such as Instagram are primarily geared towards engagement, there are established ways to increase sales on them.

Promoting your content on social channels is a great way to get your smart, well-researched content in front of new people, proving your expertise and growing your audience.

Social media generates a huge amount of data about your customers in real-time. You can use that information to make smarter business decisions. All of the major social networks offer analytics that provides demographic information about the people interacting with your account.

This can help you tailor your social media marketing strategy to better speak to your real audience. When people search for the type of content they want to post on a social media page.  They may follow and connect with you and get new fans who want to do business. It's not just the content, it's your problem as the content creator.

The world of social media is evolving, and so is SEO.  The social media presence boosts your SEO.

If you want to get the most out of your social media marketing efforts, you must focus on increasing brand loyalty. Having a loyal following means better engagement and better conversations. This book will give you a holistic idea about online marketing.

Ask any loyal social media follower about their trusted brand, and they will speak positively about it without the need to push. They’re looking for value, which you will have to deliver at all times by sharing quality content.

When people approach you with a relevant query, you should get back to them with the right answers, this way they will know that you are the real deal and that your business actually cares about others. But don’t limit your answering adventures to your loyal followers. Connect to them on a more personal level and engage in real conversations. Even if it’s just for the sake of interacting. Personally interacting with other people and humanizing your brand will go a long way. It will keep your followers/fans keeping coming back for more.

You can use this for good quality content creation.

CONCLUSION

Social media is a crucial part of your business marketing, but it doesn’t have to be stressful to manage. Take the first step, create a profile, and start engaging with your customers.

The importance of social media in business can be understood as we must start applying what we have discussed.  If right, social media marketing has proven to be truly cost-effective in the long run.

Today, paid social media campaigns like Facebook ads are also cheaper than other adoptions like search engine ads.  It means a higher return on investment.  If you want to succeed, jumping into social media is no longer a matter of choice.
